Young Allari Naresh, is one of the few stars, who came out unscathed amid the heap of flops last year as his comic-caper Bendu Apparao set cash registers ringing. The overwhelming response to my small film was a pleasant surprise, he says with relish. The sleeper hit cemented his position as a comedy star in T-town. I always wanted to be known as a good actor, but the audience seems to prefer seeing me as a comedy star, he confesses with a laugh.
So is he now eyeing the slot vacated by seasoned comedy star Rajendraprasad? I have no such intentions. Rajendraprasad was a multi-faceted actor. I have just begun my career and have a long way to go, he reasons.
Allari who has wowed the audience with his impeccable comic-timing in 25 films, claims that tickling the funny bone is not an easy job. Comedy is one of the toughest things to do. Akshay Kumar is brilliant in comic scenes and his films have worked commercially. Other top stars like
Rajnikanth and Amitabh Bachchan too had perfect comic timing. These three are my inspiration, he says.
While comedy is his forte, what gives him the jitters? Romantic scenes. I feel very uncomfortable doing them, he points out. Allari also dislikes double entendres, vulgarity and smooching scenes. My fans are mostly kids and ladies. I dislike offending them. And I can never step into Emraan Hashmis shoes and smooch like him in a film, he avers.
There were no such awkward moments for him in his upcoming film Sambo Siva Sambo where he has no heroine paired with him. My role in this gripping tale is realistic and demanding, he adds. Allari is doing a multi-starrer with Ravi Teja. No ego issues there? None at all. I have no ego hassles. In fact, Ravi and I have become very good friends, laughs Allari. In fact his friendly nature has made him good friends with Tollywood co-stars NTR Jr, Sharwanand, Tarun. I end up adding 40 to 50 friends after each film, he quips. The actor who bagged the Filmfare Award for his riveting performance in Gamyam is in the mood to experiment. I am equally excited about my other films with K Viswanth, amsi and Singeetham Srinivasa Rao as they would enable me to explore the varied shades of my talent, he says.
Besides a rocking T-town career, Allari now has K-town plans as well. He will share screen space with Tamil star Sasikumar for a Kollywood film this year. I am more fluent in Tamil than my mother tongue Telugu since I learnt it during my school days in Chennai, he elaborates.
On the personal front, the 29-year-old actor is not in a mood to settle down. May be I'll do that in 2012. But that will happen only after my elder brother and actor Rajesh ties the knot, he says. Allari used to be a popular fixture in the party circuit but now seems to have cut down on his partying. I have learnt to strike a balance between work and pleasure, he says.
In the last two years, hes also transformed into a workaholic. After my film Nenu bombed I had to sit home for 13 months! Thats when I realised that I needed to work harder. And thats what I am doing. I am never away from the studios even for two days, he says on a parting note.
Seems like some lessons can be very valuable!
