Vedika played the female lead in the film opposite debutant Nara Rohit. She went on to do another flick Daggaraga Dooranga opposite Sumanth last year. We asked her what has kept her away from signing on the dotted lines more often and she replied, Even I would like to do more Telugu films, but I am choosy about my films. I dont want to accept whatever comes my way.
I am here to do some meaningful cinema and people should remember all the characters I play for long.
She has no qualms about doing routine masala flicks, but her character in the films should be portrayed well is something Vedika insists on. I am doing a film with Bala sir in Tamil and I have to give bulk dates for it, says she. Every actor wants to work with Bala sir. When I got the opportunity, I didnt need to think twice about it. I have learnt a lot from him, she added.
Contrary to the strict and serious image that Bala is said to have, Vedika says she never really felt that way. He is a very good human being. On the sets, he is friendly with everyone and even cracks jokes, she says.
Asked if competition in the industry worries her, the actress says, Healthy competition is always good and I am here to do films not just for money. Its my passion.
Having settled in Mumbai, whats the reason behind choosing to debut in the South, just like so many other actors from Mumbai? South films are now happening. Currently, most Hindi films are remakes of South films. Even the technicians from South are working in Bollywood. People are professional and humble here, says Vedika.
For those who didnt know, Vedika may not have had an offer from Bollywood yet, but she has acted in Hindi music videos.
