Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Women of 2013 list. The votes received online on www.itimes.com/polls, along with our vote, decided the winners.
You have been voted as the Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Women of 2013.
How does it feel?
To be honest, I am very flattered and also, I thank everyone who has voted for me. My journey to the top has been very convoluted, so its all the more special, in a way.
You have gone through a tremendous makeover over the years right from your look to your personality. Have you thought about what makes you desirable? I have never really thought about it. My approach towards my work and people has also changed a lot over the years. I didnt grow up feeling that I am a good looking girl. I think it all boils down to how confident you feel from the inside. No amount of lipstick or make-up can make you feel better in the long run, if you dont accept who you are. Thats been a differentiating factor for me. I realised that this is my face and body and that I might as well be happy about it.The moment we embrace this truth and start loving ourselves, I think the confidence shows on your face and your life isnt the same after that. You have to think sexy to feel sexy about yourself.
In an earlier interview, you mentioned that you were like a tomboy in school and no one ever asked you out. It must have been quite a journey from that state to being voted as mostdesirable, isnt it? Oh yes. No one used to ask me out because I was totally into sports, video games and I was a complete tomboy in school. Well, for that matter, people dont ask me out even now. I think they get scared wondering what I would say, if they make a move. Nothing much has changed after all. (laughs)
In a fiercely competitive industry, do you feel a sense of achievement reaching this top position ahead of others? It does make me happy, but then, being desirable isnt entirely about how good looking you are. Its has to be a combination of your personality and looks. In any case, your notion of beauty and desirability changes with time. At the moment, it feels good.
Of late, you seem to have worked a lot on your looks be it your fashion, fitness or even the way you carry yourself. Can you tell us more about that? Initially, its easy to get carried away by other peoples idea of whats best for you, when it comes to fashion. The only thing I have done is just stay true to my own style. For example, I am very eclectic and my style statement reflects my mood. I neither follow trends blindly nor am I obsessed with brands, unless I find myself really comfortable with what I wear. I have always believed that the clothes shouldnt wear you, instead you should wear them. Just be yourself, no matter what.
Whos the most desirable man for you? Ah! How can I pick just one person when everyone has something new and unique to offer? Personally, its a mans mind which makes him more desirable. A man with a sharp mind is smarter and well-mannered. I did come across quite a few people like that, but lets just leave it at that (laughs).
