The Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, has announced that notices will be sent to the makers of the Telugu film 'Baby' for their inclusion of scenes depicting drug use. The move comes in the wake of a major drug bust by the Narcotics Division police, which unveiled a network of drug dealers, including three Nigerians, operating in the city.

"We have apprehended five individuals in connection with this case, with three of them being Nigerian nationals. Our investigation revealed that the narcotics were being procured from Bangalore and distributed locally through an organized network. It has come to our attention that some Nigerians have overstayed their visas and are involved in these illegal activities," Commissioner Anand stated during a press briefing.

The police's investigation also highlighted the role of social media in facilitating drug sales. "We discovered that drug transactions were being conducted through social media platforms, making it easier for these illegal activities to go unnoticed," Commissioner Anand added.

The commissioner noted that the film 'Baby' had scenes portraying drug use, which he believed could potentially encourage such behaviour among viewers. He issued an appeal to the film industry, urging them to refrain from depicting drug use in movies. "We will also issue notices to the producers of the 'Baby' movie. Going forward, every film will be subject to police scrutiny," he emphasized.

In a meeting with the director of 'Baby,' Sai Rajesh, and the film's producer, SKN, Commissioner Anand inquired about the rationale behind including drug-related scenes in the movie. The police argued that these scenes might have inadvertently contributed to glorifying drug use, especially in light of the recent Madapur drug case.

Director Sai Rajesh, responding to the police's concerns, asserted that films should serve as role models for society and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the authorities. He suggested that the Telugu film industry should be informed about these issues to prevent the unintentional glamorization of illegal activities.
