Amar Akbar Anthony movie review highlights: This Ravi Teja and Ileana starrer fails to impress

Amar (Ravi Teja) is the child who grows up with revenge in his veins due to losing everyone dear to him in childhood. However there are also a lookalikes called Akbar, who talks in clichéd Urdu accented Telugu and Anthony, a psychiatrist who has an extremely calm demeanour. Then there's Pooja nee Aishwarya (Ileana), his childhood friend who's equally damaged by her experiences. Pursuing Amar is FBI officer Balwanth (Abhimanyu Singh), put on his tail by the very four people who betrayed his parents and Aishwarya's.

The first half of 'Amar Akbar Anthony' also introduces Vennela Kishore, Sayaji Shinde, Satya and a motley of other characters for various reasons that are tedious to keep track of. Injecting forced commercial elements like song and dance, with Don Brasco, and comedy with WATA (World Andhra Telangana Association) by poking fun at NRI Telugu Associations slows down the pace and distracts considerably from the matter at hand.

A story like this demands fast paced narration but the choppy editing doesn't make it any easier. With almost all the cards laid out on the table before the interval, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
