'Happy Wedding' movie review highlights: An unmemorable first half

Sumanth Ashwin and Niharika Konidela's wedding drama 'Happy Wedding' is here, bringing the story of a young couple named Anand and Akshara. Directed by debutant Lakshman Karya, the film features music by Shaktikanth Karthik and BGM by S Thaman.

Anand (Sumanth) is an (almost annoyingly) peppy

Vijayawada

guy who writes jingles and leads a happy go lucky life. Akshara (Niharika Konidela) is a Hyderabadi 'confusion cutie' (as she's lovingly called by her family) who cannot make her mind up about anything. The only thing she's clear on is that she loves Anand. But does she want to marry him or not is a question she struggles with. Except, neither her parents nor her fiancé take her seriously when she voices out her concerns.

The first half of the film sees Murli Krishna and Tulasi play Akshara's parents and Indraja play her single, independent, understanding aunt. Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh play Anand's parents. 'Happy Wedding' has been an okay ride so far with the interval bang ending on a predictable note. It does have some feel good moments that are super relatable though. Except the sequence of events taking place in the film seem too random and don't stitch together well. The insertion of an ex boyfriend for Akshara in the story seems completely unnecessary, seeing as how she wasn't unclear on the first time she voiced her concerns about marriage. It remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
