Having featured in over 500 films, the actor knows how to step into the shoes perfectly be it in a comic, heroic or villainous role. Born as Manchu Bhakthavatsalam Naidu in Modhugulapalem, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Mohan Babu’s first film was Kannavaari Kalaluwhich came in the year 1974. Over the years, the actor has received name and fame and won also Padma Shri Award for his contribution to Arts and Education and two Filmfare Awards.

​Mohan Babu plays twins in ''Pedarayudu''

Mohan Babu plays the twins Pedarayudu and Raja, who are inseparable and strive for the wellbeing of their fellow villagers until one of them is accused of murdering a teacher in the village. Both the characters will be different from each other, and he pulled it off with ease. Directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty, Pedarayudu changed the course of Mohan Babu’s career. The core plot of the film was something new for the Telugu audience, and it is still considered his career-best.

​Mohan Babu as IAS officer in ''Collector Garu''

Mohan Babu played the role of an IAS officer who faces a series of hardships as he tries to battle a corrupt politician. A journalist helps him to expose the exploitation of the politician. Director B Gopal brought out the real performer in him, and showed us what the actor was actually capable of. Mohan Babu’s performance in the film was highly appreciated, and the film also received positive reviews from the audience. This role remains to be one of his powerhouse performances ever, and with this film, he became Collection King Mohan Babu.

It was such a great delight to watch Mohan Babu’s character of Sivaji, a talented artist becomes a drunkard after the death of his wife. He sets out to save the life of a rich young woman when her uncle threatens to kill her for her wealth. Mohan Babu had once again proved his versatility by starring in a film like Brahma. Many years have gone by, but even today, the film is remembered as one of the best Tollywood films of all time.

​Mohan Babu as a contracted husband in ''Alludugaru''

Mohan Babu as Vishnu is simply exceptional in his portrayal of a contracted husband who has been hired by a woman named Kalyani as her father is forced to marry anyone else. His quirks, his emotional breakdown and his drama are simply lovable. This movie portrayed the comic side of the veteran actor, which he shone in brightly. Directed by K Raghavendra Rao, the film was a commercial success, and all the songs were chartbusters.

Mohan Babu played the son of a bravo courageous retired solder Major Chandrakanth in the film. His performance as a gangster Sivaji won the hearts of many. He shared screen space with his favourite actor late legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao in it. It is one of the most renowned works of Mohan Babu whose performance stood out and had a significance of its own in the film. Even the film was a critical and commercial success.
