With his nuanced emoting skills and good looks, the critically acclaimed director-cum-screenwriter gradually turned himself into a crowd-puller with pure talent and hard work.
Though Sesh was born in Hyderabad, his family moved to the United States when he was a kid. After studying direction and acting at the San Francisco State University, he helmed several plays and short films before making his mainstream directorial debut. He also walked away with Mr India San Francisco and Mr India Waves titles.
After surviving a major car crash of epic proportions, Adivi Sesh got fascinated by the concept of Karma and prepared a story revolving around it. Finally, in 2010, he made his debut as an actor, director, and writer with the supernatural film ‘Karma: Do You Believe?' opposite American actress Jade Taylor. This is the first Telugu film to be completely shot in the United States and with an all-American technical crew.
Despite failing on the commercial medium, the film was praised for the technicalities and performances. A noted reviewer wrote “With an 'angelic' face, Adivi Sesh is an apt choice to play enigmatic Dev and his scripting skills also deserve a special mention. He may have chosen an unconventional path and a novel theme but he has tried to infuse something new in Telugu cinema.”
After Karma, the multifaceted personality shifted his focus towards acting and played a queue of supporting roles in films like Panjaa, Balupu and Run Raja Run. Sesh is an avid admirer of SS Rajamouli and he openly expressed his desire to work with him on numerous occasions. Luckily, Rajamouli roped him to play Bhadrudu, the son of King Bhallaladeva (played by Rana Daggubati) in the first part of the ‘Baahubali’ franchise. Opening up on the role, the ‘Ami Thumi’ actor said “Baahubali happened without any hustle-bustle and I am blessed to be part of India’s biggest motion picture. Playing an antagonist is no pain to me if the script is crisp and concrete.”

After scoring brownie points as a protagonist with superhit films like Kshanam, Goodachari and Evaru, Adivi Sesh is presently busy with Major, a biopic on the life and times of Sandeep Unnikrishnan. He will step into the shoes of the NSG Commando who rescued hostages during the 26/11 terror attack on the Taj Hotel in Mumbai and perished in his valorous mission. The Hindi-Telugu bilingual will be bankrolled by Mahesh Babu’s home banner Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu Entertainment (GMB) in association with Sony Pictures Productions.
Today happens to be the 34th birthday of Adivi Sesh and on the special occasion, check out some of his finest performances.
