Catherine Tresa has opened in theatres on July 28 amid huge anticipation.Compared to what the trailer showed us, the story unfolding on the big screen has exceeded expectations in terms of establishing the contrast between the haves and have-nots. Though the movie seems to have drawn inspiration from the Mark Twain-ish tried-and-tested ‘Prince and Pauper’ formula, the movie offers a bunch of elements till the first half to keep the audience engaged.
Gautham Gattamaneni (Gopichand) is the only son of a businessman, who features among the Top 50 billionaires of the world. A fun-loving
Siddharth, who is depicted as someone with a devil-may-care attitude realises that there is more to the world than luxury. At a certain point, he runs into Nanda Kishore (Gopichand, in a double role) and is amused by how similar they look but lead contrasting lives. Soon after, the duo decides to switch and a series of dramatic events unfolds.
Although Goutham Nanda rides on a clichéd concept, the makers offer novelty in the way the subject has been treated. For Gopichand, the film looks good to bring him back in the reckoning. Catherine and Hansika have a little to do in the first half, in which they are quite convincing. Music scored by
Thaman
complements the narration. The visual backdrop of the songs is also impressive.
