It turned out that the filmmakers had watched his movies online and were very impressed with the Hyderabadi actor’s comic timing. “I’m thrilled to be making my Bollywood debut; can’t wait to start shooting. What’s more, I have a significant role to play in the movie,” reveals the actor.

Titled Saajan Chale Sasural 2, the sequel of 1996 comic caper is set to hit the floors next year. Bollywood actor Govinda played a villager, Shyamsunder, who moves to Mumbai to pursue a career in music, in the original. Gullu has been roped in to play the protagonist’s friend in the sequel.

“Satish Kaushikji played Muthuswami, a tabla player in the original. I’m playing the role, but the filmmakers decided to tweak the character a little bit this time. While Satishji played a Tamilian I will be playing a pucca Hyderabadi guy called Nawab,” says the actor, adding, “The sequel is based on a completely new story and it will have nothing to do with the original.”
Director NN Siddiqui says, the role is taior made for Gullu. “I’ve been a fan of Gullu Dada from the time I watched his film Stepney back in 2015 and wanted to work with him ever since. I wrote the character for him and it is going to be the highlight of the film and will be in his element, delivering dialogues in chaste Dakhni all through the film,” says Siddiqui adding, “We are in discussions with a couple of big Bollywood stars to play the lead and will come out with an official statement soon.”
