Geetha Govindam Preview: Lot of expectations riding on this one
Parasuram directorial ‘Geetha Govindam’ releases on August 15, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles.
Featuring music by Gopi Sunder, the film’s teaser, trailer and songs have already been a huge hit. Returning to screen after Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Arjun Reddy’, expectations are sky-high on Deverakonda for this one. The film’s tickets too were sold out in no time and it is opening to packed screens.
‘Geetha Govindam’ charts the journey of a humble guy named Govind and his love for a techie called Geetha. However, being a smart woman, Geetha has no time for Govind’s antics and believes he’s faking his goodness, judging by the trailers. Director Parasuram told Hyderabad Times in a recent interaction that ‘Geetha Govindam’ is his best film yet.
Deverakonda’s character in the film will showcase him in a whole new avatar. While he played a lazy guy just looking to marry a rich woman in ‘Pelli Choopulu’ and a medico with anger and drug abuse issues in ‘Arjun Reddy’, his character in Parasuram’s film will be more focused and driven.
The director however remains confident that no matter how high the audience’s expectations will be, the movie will surpass it. Recently, ‘Geetha Govindam’ ran into a bit of trouble when certain scenes from the film were leaked online and spread like wild-fire. An editor from Hyderabad and over a dozen students from Guntur were arrested for the same. Vijay Deverakonda addressed the issue by taking to his social media and revealing, “I feel let down, disappointed, hurt. Okka sari kopam osthundi, inko sari edupostundi.” (sic)
However, the situation seems to be contained at the moment with everyone involved reportedly facing up to seven years of imprisonment. Before this too ‘Geetha Govindam’ ran into controversy when a song released by the filmmakers called ‘What The F’, had to be changed to ‘What The Life’ due to its controversial lyrics. Vijay Deverakonda himself crooned for the song. It remains to be seen how the film will fare.
