From legal counsel to lead actor, M Veerabhadra Reddy’s journey to the big screen is one for the books. With Legally Veer, his first film, Reddy dives headfirst into storytelling inspired by the most significant person in his life — his father, Veeranarayana Reddy. “It’s not just a movie; it’s my tribute to him. Our relationship, with its ups and downs, shaped who I am today,” Reddy reflects.

Reddy’s story is one of cultural shifts and personal growth. From his early days in an Andhra village to Sainik School, Delhi University, and finally New York, his diverse life experiences fuel his authenticity on screen. “I don’t need acting classes — life has been my greatest teacher,” he quips.

The COVID-19 lockdown proved pivotal in shaping Legally Veer. “I was stuck in India during the COVID-19 lockdown, performing my father’s 11th-month rituals. It was during this time that the idea came to me. A film seemed like the best way to express the emotions and memories I was experiencing — something that could convey the depth of those moments in a way nothing else could,” Reddy shares.

The film is a mix of courtroom drama, a murder mystery, and emotional storytelling. “It’s not about being perfect on screen — it’s about being real,” he says.
