It all began with a chance encounter,” reminisces Karabee, recalling her first meeting with cricketer
Pragyan Ojha in 2007.
Pragyan was asked by his friends to pick up Karabee, who’d just moved to Hyderabad from Shillong. “There were no Google Maps back then. She was struggling to explain directions on the phone, and we kept going around in circles for nearly 1.5 hours,” laughs Pragyan.
His Hyderabadi accent caught her attention. “At first, I was perplexed by his Hyderabadi accent, a novelty to my ears. But beneath that unfamiliarity, I found a sweet gentleman, sparking a friendship that would stand the test of time,” says Karabee.
Their courtship revolved around exploring the city, indulging in pani-puri and movie dates. “Although she didn’t like pani puri, she would always accompany me ‘cos I love them. We’d hang out mostly at fast food and fruit juice joints in Secunderabad. We’d go to Necklace Road to catch a movie.”
“We explored Hyderabad’s iconic landmarks. I discovered the city and fell in love with its easy-going people and their laid-back ways,” recalls Karabee, adding, “Hyderabad acted as the perfect matchmaker.”Today, with their “little bundle of joy,” Yohaan, their life revolves around a different kind of love. “Parenthood has changed our life completely. Yohaan is our number 1 priority now.”
"Right from when Karabee and I started dating, we were both very serious about the relationship. We were sure that we wanted to settle down together. It’s been a fascinating journey. But the celebration of our love wouldn’t be complete without Hyderabad."
