Forget SA, show us the script!

Tollytown says no to sexy starlets from Mumbai
Forget SA, show us the script!
Looks like Tollywoods no longer smitten with curvy Bollywood imports. In 2008, Mumbai babes Urvashi Sharma (Three), Sonal Chouhan (Rainbow), Sayali Bhagat (Blade Babji) and Tanya Vakil (Dongalabandi) stormed Tollywood but couldnt create ripples at the BO.
Unfazed by their predecessors ill fortune, a bevy of model-turned-actors like Shweta Bharadwaj, Meenakshi Dixit, Vega Tamotia and Neetu Chandra arrived with stardust in their eyes in 2009, but the audience has thumbed down their films too! Even the no-holds-barred glam act of Shweta Bharadwaj (Indumathi) or the performance-oriented role of Meenakshi Dixit (Lifestyle) couldnt set the cash registers ringing.
1x1 polls
We cant be blamed entirely for a films success or failure, says Meenakshi who claims to have received been appreciated for her role. My glam look was confined to songs. Probably, the audience couldnt connect with the story, she adds. But she has no regrets. Tollywood films offer you a lot of exposure. Im looking for an outstanding role now, she says.
Shweta whos done a major role in the Bollywood flick Mission Istanbul is now looking for a meaty role to make a comeback in Tollywood. I wanted to start my T-town career with a novel script. A suspense thriller looked like a safe bet, but Indumathi didnt do as well as expected, laments Shweta, whos now busy endorsing big brands.
Hottie Neetu Chandras dare-bare act in Satyameva Jeyathe failed to impress the audience too. Now the onus of breaking the jinx of B-town imports lies on the slender shoulders of Vega Tamotia (whos doing Houseful, a new-age concept ) and Shraddha Das. Shraddha started off the year on a dismal note with duds like Diary and Target. Shes now pinning her hopes on Arya 2 Its a big-ticket film and I am feeling confident, avers Shraddha.
Even filmmakers seem to have revised their mindset and are no longer looking only at glam girls as crowd-pullers. Glam girls can draw in the initials but they cant make a blockbuster. Filmmakers should sign up pretty actors only if the script demands it, says producer Chintalapudi Srinivas, about the flop glam show.
Looks like in T-town, having sex-appeal is not enough. Leading ladies need to fit into the
script too!
