Nag Ashwin debuted with
Yevade Subramanyam
, starring
Nani,
Malavika Nair and Ritu Varma in the lead roles.
Apart from introducing Nag Ashwin, the film also introduced the talented
Vijay Deverakonda. Yevade Subramanyam told the story of an ambitious and greedy businessman whose life turns upside down with the arrival of his childhood friend. How his life changes when he’s forced to go on a journey to the
Himalayas
was what the film was all about. The makers ever released a special video on the occasion called Idhera Unreleased Version which sees behind-the-scenes footage of the film.
Fans of the film, which saw music by
Radhan
and one song composed by Ilaiyaraaja, have been trending the hashtag
#5YearsForYevadeSubramanyam
since Saturday morning. They have also been sharing their favourite scenes, songs and characters from the film. Some also reminisce of how Nani’s Jenda Pai Kapiraju had also hit screens on the same day five years ago, but had failed to leave a mark, while Yevade Subramanyam went on to become a hit.
And, of course, Vijay Deverakonda’s fans didn’t hold back either, commenting how his character Rishi in the film was one-of-a-kind. While Deverakonda played a supporting role in this one, he had already made his debut with Nuvvila and Life is Beautiful. The actor slowly rose to fame with Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy, with no looking back after. Nag Ashwin too went on to direct the Savitri biopic Mahanati and is currently working on
#Prabhas21
