‘Filmfare award gives respect to small cinema’
Raj Kandukuri is understandably elated at bagging the ‘Black Lady’ in the category of ‘Best Telugu Film’ for ‘Pelli Choopulu’ at the 64th Jio Filmfare South Awards 2017. “This is a huge boost for small cinema.
Normally, people say that a particular small film has done well and that’s that. But these kinds of big awards give small cinema, the much needed respect and I believe respect is more important than money.
1x1 polls
This award would inspire many newcomers and short-film makers because they now realise that there is respectability. Nobody knew any of us from the 'team prior to ‘Pelli Choopulu’, but now, this recognition has got us immense respect across various industries. And personally, I would like to continue to encourage short-film makers and newcomers, generate employment in the industry. If I can make five successful films out of 10 in this vein, it would give me immense satisfaction,” said Raj Kandukuri.
