Actor Suriya is excited to see his film on the big screen again for the first time since the pandemic. His last two films —

Aakasam Nee Haddhu Ra

and

Jai Bhim

— had released directly on OTT due to

Covid-19

.

“The pandemic forced us all to adapt to the new normal. While it was great to hear even people from Kolkata compliment my films after watching them on OTT, it feels great to be able to release films in theatres again. Looking at the thumping response recent films like Akhanda, Pushpa and

Bheemla Nayak

have gotten, I’m hopeful that my film

ET

(

Evariki Thalavanchadu

) will also get the same kind of love from the audience. I truly enjoyed dubbing for my role in

Telugu

. We even made minor changes to the dialogues to suit the language,” says the actor.

Directed by Pandiraj, Suriya says Evariki Thalavanchadu, which releases today, is a commercial entertainer backed by a strong social message. Expanding further on the film’s plot, Suriya says, “The film deals with the misogyny with which we treat women around us. We expect them to always be the ones to adjust, we instinctively ask them to bring water, serve tea etc. The events depicted in the film will resonate with everyone as we see it in our daily life be it Andhra Pradesh, Telangana or Tamil Nadu. We’ve tried to deal with it all sensitively.”

Sunil Narang, who is releasing the film in Telugu under Asian Multiplexes, nods in agreement, saying, “The film is based on a true story that’ll touch people’s hearts. It’ll surely bring the audience back to the cinema halls for Suriya.”
