‘Drishyam 2’ Telugu remake: Jeethu Joseph joins hands with Venkatesh

Skipping its theatrical release, Jeethu Joseph’s ‘

Drishyam 2

’ opted for a direct release on a popular OTT platform and continuing from where the prequel left, the

sequel

opened to a phenomenal response from the netizens with critical acclaim as well. The impact is such that tags like the ‘Best Crime Thriller of Malayalam Cinema’ and ‘One of the Best Sequels Ever’ have been doing the rounds on the internet. Powered by top-notch writing, terrific performances and the glorious twists and turns in the final hour, ‘Drishyam 2’ is a thoroughly gripping and entertaining sequel which ticks all the right boxes.

Along with the producers of ‘Drishyam 2’, Jeethu Joseph met

Venkatesh

and Suresh Babu in Hyderabad and finalised the Telugu remake. A news report mentioned that the director is also scouting locations in Telangana to can the sequel to

Drushyam

and the shooting will kick-off in March. While an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited, the project is expected to be wrapped up in record time. Jeethu is planning to direct the Tamil and Hindi versions as well.

In 2014, Venkatesh stepped into the shoes of Mohanlal in the Telugu remake of Drishyam titled Drushyam. While Meena and Ester Anil reprised their roles from the original, former actress Sripriya replaced Jeetu as the director. The thriller registered a stupendous victory in the Telugu states and struck the right chord with the family audience.

On the work front, Venkatesh is occupied with the shooting of F3 starring Varun Tej, Tamannaah and Mehreen in lead roles. The veteran hero has wrapped up shooting for ‘Narappa’, the Telugu remake of ‘Asuran’, and the rustic-actioner is gearing up for a release on May 14.
