Disco Raja movie review highlights: Ravi Teja's film has a shaky first half
Vi Anand's Ravi Teja, Payal Rajput, Nabha Natesh, Bobby Simha, Tanya Hope starrer 'Disco Raja' hit screens today amidst high expectations.
Disco Raja Movie Review : Nothing to Freak Out about here!
The film which sees music by Thaman S is a sci-fi one. There's a corporate entity called Relive Biolab, run by Dr Sharma (Shishir Sharma), aided by Parineeti (Tanya Hope) and Phalguni (Vennela Kishore), which wants to beat death and find a way to revive dead people. In the mountains of Ladakh, frozen is the body of someone thought to be Vasu (Ravi Teja), whose family and girlfriend Nabha (Nabha Natesh) wait for him back home in Delhi. After revival, he doesn't remember who he is or where he comes from. Also looking for him is a hired killer (Naresh), hunting him down for someone unknown. Then there's 65-year-old gangster Sethu (Bobby Simha) who suffers from PTSD and his biggest rival is the music loving gangster Disco Raj (Ravi Teja) who's thought to be dead. How do all these stories connect?
The first half of 'Disco Raja' sees a lot of meandering with Nabha Natesh's glamorous side shown off and jokes made about Phalguni's obsession with Parineeti. However, despite the interval reveal being something you can smell from a mile away if you've seen the teasers, the first half manages to work whenever it sticks to the story at hand. The set-up of Vasu's character however involves a lot of unwanted melodrama in the beginning of the film. 'Disco Raja' s tone wavers all over the place as a result. With Ravi Teja coming to form right before the interval, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
