Director Sandeep Raj says 'Akhanda 2' delay 'disturbed him a lot' as 'Mowgli' changed release plans

Tollywood film 'Mowgli' had to reschedule its release date after the spiritual sequel 'Akhanda 2' was postponed due to financial issues. Due to this, multiple small and mid-budget films were rescheduled. Recently, the director of 'Mowgli', Sandeep Raj shared how the sudden postponement of Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer affected his movie's plans.

'Akhanda 2' delay disrupts Mowgli's plans

During the pre-release event of the film, as per CineExpress, Sandeep Raj revealed that he was excited and relaxed as the release date approached. But when Akhanda 2 suddenly moved to December 12, everything changed for him. "I was very happy all these days, and suddenly this disturbed me a lot," he said. He mentioned that after five years, a film of his was set to be released, where they had worked on the movie for the last 2 years.


'Mowgli' was set to hit the big screens on 12th December, but it has been shifted by one day and it now releasing on 13th December. The director also spoke that some suggested to him other dates like January and February, but those months were already crowded with big films. He said he believed strongly in the movie he made and did not want to postpone it any further.

Sandeep Raj on his five-year struggle

Sandeep Raj added that over the last few years, even though he delivered a successful film like 'Colour Photo', he went without work for almost five years. "When you give a hit and still stay home for five years, only then you know how tough it is," he shared. Because of this gap, he worked on 'Mowgli' with extra care and put his full effort into every part of the film.

The director made a fun comparison of his film and 'Akhanda 2' as he mentioned to watch 'Mowgli' after Nandamuri Balakrishna's. He said, "Watch Akhanda 2 first, then come out and you’ll need a Meenakshi pan… so watch our film. I promise you won't be disappointed".
