Director Karuna Kumar addresses rumours surrounding Varun Tej's 'Matka' shoot delay

Rumours about the delay in the shooting of director Karuna Kumar’s upcoming film 'Matka', starring Varun Tej, sparked speculation about budget constraints. However, Karuna Kumar dismissed these rumours, clarifying that the pause in filming was due to Varun's hair being trimmed for last-minute shots in another project, Operation Valentine, rather than financial issues.

In an interview with Gulte, Karuna Kumar revealed that despite completing two schedules and thirty percent of the shoot, filming was temporarily halted until Varun's hair grew back to maintain continuity. He emphasized that there were no budgetary constraints affecting the production, debunking the rumours surrounding the film.

Moreover, Karuna Kumar shared that the producers were delighted with the quality of the footage captured so far, hinting at a possible increase in the budget by 10-20%. He explained that while there was a budget outlined initially, the final expenditure might surpass it due to the producers' satisfaction with the film's progress.

Varun Tej is expected to play a gangster in the film, which is set in Vizag between the 1950s and the 1980s and has four different looks during the duration of the story.

'Matka' has a cast that includes Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra, Mime Gopi, Kishore, and Ajay Ghosh, among others.

With Karuna Kumar's clarification, fans can rest assured that 'Matka' remains on track and hopes to deliver a compelling cinematic experience with its intriguing storyline and talented ensemble cast.
