Chiranjeevi’s nephew
Panja Vaisshnav Tej is making his silver screen debut as a protagonist with Uppena. The rustic actioner was initially scheduled for a release on April 2, however, due to coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown in the country, the film has been postponed and the new date will be out soon. In the meantime, the makers of
Uppena
are trying to keep the audience engaged with lyrical videos and new posters.
Meanwhile, it’s already evident that
Vijay Sethupathi is playing the key role of Rayanam in Uppena. According to gossip mills, the 42-year-old Kollywood actor has secured the
Tamil remake
rights of Uppena and is contemplating to bankroll the film in association with Mythri Movie Makers. While Sethupathi will reportedly reprise his role in the Tamil version, speculations have started on who will play the protagonist’s role.
A source told Cinema Express, “Vijay Sethupathi discussed the script of Uppena with
Vijay on the sets of
Master
, and the latter felt it would be an ideal debut for his son, Jason.” However, there is no official confirmation of any of the news.
Starring Krithi Shetty as the female lead, Uppena showcases Panja Vaisshnav Tej in the role of a young fisherman. Bankrolled by popular filmmaker Sukumar in association with Mythri Movie Makers, the film is directed by debutante Buchi Babu Sana with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Both the lyrical videos of Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram and Dhak Dhak received a fabulous response from the listeners.
