Delighted to make my debut in Tollywood this Sankranthi with Hero: Ashok Galla
Ashok Galla has very little in common with his character Arjun in his debut fillm, Hero.
While in real life, he has a powerful lineage to boast of (he’s the grandson of actor Krishna, son of politician Jayadev Galla and nephew of superstar Mahesh Babu), his character is that of a normal, middle-aged boy-next-door who’s looking to make it big as an actor. “My character Arjun is loud and outspoken, while I’m the complete opposite. Yet, I could find ways to relate to him, because his drive to become an actor is something that I could connect with,” says Ashok.
Ashok was all of nine when he first acted with his grandfather in Padanti Samsaram, “I remember it felt like a picnic — a nice break from school to act,” he says, adding, “When I acted in Naani (2004) at the age of 13, I just knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And here I am, all set to make my debut in films. I’m excited to see myself on the big screen for the first time.”
Directed by Sriram Aditya, Hero also features Nidhhi Agerwal in an important role. Ashok says he couldn’t have asked for a better film to make his entry into Tollywood. “Hero has a bit of everything — there’s romance, comedy, action and drama. It’s the perfect film to watch with your family this Sankranthi,” he says.
There was a bereavement in the family recently as Ashok’s uncle Ramesh Babu passed away last week. The actor says he didn’t want his personal loss to hinder the film’s release. “As Raj Kapoor said, the show must go on. And I look forward to giving my family some good news once it releases,” he says, signing off.
Produced by Padmavathi Galla under Amar Raja Media & Entertainment, Hero is releasing tomorrow.
