Composer Shashi Preetam suffers heart attack

Shashi Preetam

suffered a heart attack and had to undergo angioplasty on Thursday.

The singer-songwriter was rushed to a Banjara Hills hospital as he complained of pains in his chest. After undergoing an immediate angioplasty procedure, he has been in stable condition in the cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. Hospital authorities said that he had been brought in when he was in a very serious condition and they found that he had

myocardial infarction

which was treated with an angioplasty. He continues to remain the cardiac ICU of the hospital but his condition has improved since the surgery and he is in a stable state.

He made his debut as a music composer in Gulabi (1995) which was helmed by Krishna Vamsi and starred

and Maheswari in lead roles. The songs were very new for that era and many of those continue to remain favourites even today. The film was produced by Ram Gopal Varma in association with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. The next film he composed for was

Samudram

(1999) which starred Jagapati Babu, Sakshi Shivanand, Srihari, Prakash Raj, Ravi Teja in the lead roles and was produced by S. K. Bhagavan, D. V. V. Danayya under the Sri Balaji Art Creations banner and directed by Krishna Vamsi. In Tollywood, he composed music for Hands Up and Raghava next. His last work was for the Hindi film, Mani Shankar’s spy thriller

Mukhbiir

in 2008 which was actor Ali Reza’s first Bollywood movie.
