Chitram 1.1: Director Teja announces a sequel to his debut film

Director Teja, who has been MIA since the release of Sita in 2019, is all set to direct the sequel of his debut film Chitram.

On his

birthday

on February 22, the director announced that the title of his new film will be Chitram 1.1.

RP Patnaik

will once again be teaming up with the director after films like

Jayam

, Chitram and Nuvvu Nenu.

Known for introducing new faces, Teja is planning to rope in 45 debutants for the film. While it’s yet to be known who plays the lead roles, it would be interesting to see how the sequel plans out. RP Patnaik announced the same on social media and wrote, “Here comes the blasting announcement that many are waiting for.... wishing Teja garu a happy birthday. Wait for a musical blast from us with this CHITRAM 1.1” (sic)

Chitram released in 2000 and saw Uday Kiran and Reema Sen in the lead roles. The film was based on the topic of teenage pregnancy and was a blockbuster at the box office. It was later remade in Tamil and

Kannada

. After the debut, Teja’s other films like Jayam and Nuvvu Nenu were also received well. However, he has been facing duds at the box office recently.
