Jani Master was arrested by the Narsingi police following a complaint from a 21-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh, who alleged that he sexually assaulted her while she was working as his assistant choreographer. The woman recounted meeting Jani at an event in 2017, and after two years, he offered her a job as an assistant choreographer, which she accepted. The alleged assault occurred at a hotel during a show in Mumbai, where both were staying with other dancers.
According to NDTV, police reported that Jani Master has admitted to the sexual assault of a former employee. He was arrested on September 19 in Bengaluru before being transported to Hyderabad. The victim also accused him of threatening her with physical harm if she reported the incident and of subjecting her to mental harassment during rehearsals and photoshoots. Furthermore, she claimed he pressured her to convert to his religion and marry him. The police's remand report indicated that the victim, who was 16 at the time, suffered sexual abuse multiple times over four years.
Meanwhile, Jani is set to receive an award for Best Choreography for his work in the Tamil film ‘Thiruchitrabalam,’ featuring Dhanush and Nithya Menon. Nithya will also receive the Best Actress award for her performance in the movie.
Jani Master is known for his work on films like Prabhas's starrer ‘Baahubali’ and Allu Arjun's starrer ‘Pushpa: The Rise.’ On October 8, he is expected to share the National Award with fellow choreographer Satish Krishnan.
