Buzz: Rakul Preet to essay the role of Karnam Malleswari in her biopic?

While initially Nithya Menen and Taapsee Pannu’s names made rounds, the former even went on record with a media house to trash these rumours during the promotions of Breathe: Into the Shadows. Now, buzz is that

Singh is gearing up for a massive comeback to Tollywood after

Manmadhudu 2

, by essaying the titular role in the biopic. While the filmmakers, including producer Kona Venkat, haven’t confirmed these rumours, they did state in the past that they were looking for an actress who would suit well in both Bollywood and Tollywood for the role.

Rakul Preet is known for being a fitness freak, someone who ensures she maintains her health and diet too. The actress has transformed her body through the years with rigorous workouts so it remains to be seen if she will be roped in for the role. The film that is yet to be titled is penned by Kona Venkat too. This is the first time a biopic on the retired Olympian from Andhra Pradesh, Amadalavalasa, Voosavanipeta is being attempted.

when she won bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She also remains the Indian woman to have won an Olympic medal. She was trained in weightlifting since childhood and began her career when she was twelve. She married a fellow weightlifter called Rajesh Tyagi in 1997 and gave birth to a son in 2001. She planned to return for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, but withdrew due to the death of her father. She retired after failing to score at the 2004 Olympics.

Now that her life story is being made for the silver screen, a la MS Dhoni, Mary Kom, Milkha Singh and more, it remains to be seen whom the makers cast for the titular role.
