In an age where most young couples try to find love by swiping on dating apps, Mehreen Pirzadaa decided to pursue it the old-fashioned way. The actress, who got engaged to
Congress leader
Bhavya Bishnoi on Friday, says their journey as a couple has been fascinating. “I think there is a certain charm in old school romance. Our parents first liked us for each other and then we started talking.
When you know that your parents approve of the relationship, it brings a sense of assurance. Bhavya and I hit it off straight away. We instantly connected, and although we’ve known each other for just 10 months, it feels like I’ve known him all my life,” shares Mehreen.
Interestingly, Mehreen was first introduced to Bhavya in May 2020 at a time when there was a nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The F2 actress says not being able to meet each other worked out for them in its own way as they got to know each other better.
“We would keep texting each other all the time. I think not being able to meet and getting to know each other this way helped. In fact, just six days after we started talking, Bhavya said that he wanted to marry me. We were extremely honest with each other. Both of us didn’t need to try hard, we kept things real.”
When they finally did meet, Mehreen and Bhavya got along like a house on fire. In fact, when the two of them travelled to the Andamans to celebrate Bhavya’s birthday last month, he took Mehreen by surprise with a fairytale proposal. “I was taking a scuba diving course there and out of nowhere, Bhavya popped up and proposed to me underwater. I had never imagined something like this — he went down on one knee and proposed, and it all happened underwater. It was magical,” says Mehreen, blushing.
The actress spent the last month planning her engagement and says she wanted everything to be perfect. “Bhavya and I decided to plan our own engagement. From the venue to the décor to the colour-scheme to the food counters, we decided everything. We wanted it to be a special day for all the guests and for ourselves and it was special indeed,” she says.
Although the couple have not zeroed in on a wedding date, Mehreen says they’re looking at a winter wedding this year. “Both the families will decide on the exact date. But one thing’s for sure, it will be a destination wedding. We have already set the bar high with our fairytale engagement in Jaipur and so we’ll have to make sure that the wedding is even more special! I’ve already started planning for it,” she says.
Before she starts planning for the wedding, Mehreen will go back to the sets of Venkatesh and Varun-Tej starrer F3. The actress says she will can’t wait to show Bhavya some of her Tollywood films. “Bhavya has seen Phillauri and some of my Punjabi movies. I’m now trying to get him to watch some of my Telugu films, particularly F2. I’ll be shooting for F3 over the next couple of months. It’s an exciting franchise and I have a wonderful role so I’m really looking forward to it,” Mehreen adds.
