'Awe': Five reasons why you need to watch the film
Awe Movie Review
Everyone sat straight and paid attention the minute Nani announced that he would be producing debutant director Prasanth Varma’s ‘Awe’. While that announcement would be enough for any film to gain attention, the filmmakers went out of their way during the promotions, revealing posters for every one of their nine (!) lead characters, describing their traits.
1x1 polls
The posters, teaser, trailer and even the theme music of ‘Awe’ have been watched closely, with many awaiting the release of the film. While ‘Awe’ has garnered enough attention and curiosity of its own, we give you five reasons why you need to watch the film before the movie review comes out:
The extensive cast
‘Awe’ features an extensive cast of Nani, Ravi Teja, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, Regina Cassandra, Eesha Rebba, Srinivas Avasarala, Priyadarshi, Murli Sharma and more. When such good motley of actors come together, it’s only natural that the audience expects nothing less than gold.
The characters
The traits of all the nine lead characters of the film were revealed through separate promotional posters. While Nani voices the character of the humanitarian fish, Ravi Teja voices that of a tree that’s got swag. Kajal Aggarwal is the deserted soul, Regina Cassandra is the bewitching badass, Nithya Menen is the free spirited woman while Eesha Rebba is bound by innocence and liberated by love. Murli Sharma plays the role of a narcissistic bully, Priyadarshi that of a fake chef and Srinivas Avasarala, that of an unrelenting underdog. If that does not pique your interest, we don’t know what will.

Nani’s debut as a producer
When announcing the film on his social media, Nani had revealed that he was so impressed with the script that he decided to bankroll the project himself. He launched his brand new production house ‘Wall Poster Cinema,’ making this his debut production venture. When a script is shown to an actor and he’s so sure about the film that he decides to back it up, that’s got to be good news!
A fresh director
Debutant directors are ruling the roost in Tollywood now, making fresh films that set themselves apart from the commercial masala films. Recent example being Venky Atluri and his film ‘Tholi Prema’ and let’s not even forget Sandeep Reddy Vanga and his hit film ‘Arjun Reddy’. With a fresh brain in TFI in the form of Prasanth Varma, it remains to be seen how the film will fare.
The storyline
“A film like this has never been made before in TFI,” was how director Prasanth Varma reportedly once described ‘Awe’ when asked about the film. When a debutant director confidently announces that, backed by Nani no less, it’s entirely possible he could be telling the truth. The debutant reportedly even called ‘Awe’, the ‘Pulp Fiction’ of Tollywood, comparing it to the Quentin Tarantino cult classic and revealed that he has broken all the rules of screenwriting. While not much has been revealed about the story of ‘Awe’s and with such large shoes to fill (Pulp Fiction!), it might be safe to assume that it would be out-of-the-box in the least.
