'Arjun Reddy': Sandeep Reddy Vanga recalls being scared watching SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2' interval - Find out why
Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ram Gopal Varma recently appeared on Jagapathi Babu's talk show 'Jayammu Nischayammu Raa'. The 'Animal' director, known for his breakthrough Telugu film, 'Arjun Reddy', recently shared about how he was scared after watching SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' 2. Let's find out more about it.
During the show, Sandeep Reddy Vanga said that watching the interval scene of the film, 'Baahubali 2', left him shaking like a leaf, questioning his own film's interval where Vijay Deverakonda's character ends up wetting himself.
He said the Prabhas starrer sequel, in his opinion, "Has the greatest interval ever. I don't think any interval has beaten it to this day."
He recalled that after watching the interval, he went to his office and watched the interval scene at the editing table. "When you see the audience cheering for that kind of interval and here, he's peeing. So, I was very scared," he said. He mentioned that he had phases of guilt and fear till the release and eventually made peace with the interval when he realized it worked for his film.
'Baahubali 2' was released in April 2017 and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film was released in August. While 'Baahubali 2' was a grand historical action drama, 'Arjun Reddy', on the other hand, focused on the raw, messy journey of a young man.
'Arjun Reddy' later turned out to be one of the biggest hits in Telugu cinema. The movie garnered so much popularity that it was remade in multiple languages. Interestingly, the Hindi version of the film was re-directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga himself, as 'Kabir Singh'. The movie starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani also became a superhit in the North belt.
Currently, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is working on his next film, 'Spirit', with Rebel Star Prabhas. The movie is touted to be a cop action drama.
