Archana has completed shooting for her first period drama, Kamala tho na Prayanam, and can't stop raving about it. Directed by National Award winning director Narasimha Nandi, the film is set in pre-independent Andhra Pradesh. The actress is essaying the role of a dancing girl, Kamala in the court of a wealthy zamindar.
'Set in a remote village by the banks of river Godavari, the movie depicts the lives of the dancing girls who were exploited by the rich.
It's a very poignant drama that will tug at the emotional strings of the audience. The film is made with a sensibility of an art film and a lot of attention has gone into getting the look and feel right,' shares Archana, who is paired opposite Sivaji in the movie.
The actress reckons this is easily her best performance till date. 'My training in Kuchipudi held me in good stead to play the character. Of course,my Telugu roots came in handy as the writing in the movie is very poetic and demands a grasp over the language. This movie is going to be a benchmark in my career, the sort I will talk about to my grand children,' beams Archana.
