It’s already evident that popular actor
Nithiin is stepping into the shoes of
Ayushmann Khurrana for the Telugu remake of Bollywood superhit film Andhadhun. Directed by Venkatadri Express fame Merlapaka Gandhi, the pooja ceremony of the crime-thriller took place in February. While the cast and crew of the remake are yet to be announced, speculations regarding certain roles have been doing the rounds on the internet.
If the on-going rumours are anything to go by, versatile actress
Ramya Krishnan is likely to step into the shoes of
Tabu for the Telugu version. Grapevine suggests that the makers have initially approached the Jawaani Jaaneman actress to reprise her role from the original. However, with Tabu reportedly quoting a huge remuneration, they have decided to go with the Baahubali actress to play the part.
While there is no official confirmation on the news, sources suggest that Ramya is yet to give her official nod and sign the dotted line. Apparently, the Telugu remake rights of Andhadhun were bought for a massive Rs 3.5 crore by Nithiin’s home banner Shrest Movies.
During a recent interaction with a leading daily, Nithiin opened about the popular remake. “It’s a risky project because the original film has been seen by many people on the OTT platform. It also won the National Award. So we are under pressure not to spoil the Telugu version. But we want to go with it because of the content. Merlapaka Gandhi is directing the film”, he said.
Released as a small film, Andhadhun registered a phenomenal success at the box-office along with solid critical acclaim. Besides the commercial reception, the Sriram Raghavan directorial bagged three national awards which include Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Actor for Ayushmann Khurrana and Best Screenplay.
