Ameesha Patel made her silver screen debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in the 2000 blockbuster ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’. Playing the role of an exuberant college girl who undergoes a tortuous time losing her lover and rediscovers a more mature relationship with a lookalike of her lover, she delivered an impressive performance and bagged accolades from all corners. Initially, Ameesha rejected the romantic-thriller as she wanted to pursue her studies in the United States. However, with Kareena Kapoor backing off at the last minute, Ameesha was approached once again and she gave her nod this time around.


Surprising one and all, Ameesha Patel signed her second film in Telugu and it’s Badri opposite Pawan Kalyan. Released in 2000, the romantic-drama went on a register a remarkable victory at the ticket counters. Set during the Indo-Pak War of 1947, the period actioner showcased her as Sakeena, a Muslim Pakistani girl who finds refuge in a Hindu truck driver’s (Sunny Deol) house during the riots, and subsequently falls in love with him. Despite being a newcomer, she pulled off the complex role with ease and bagged accolades from all corners.
