SS Rajamouli’s RRR featuring
Ram Charan,
Jr NTR and
Alia Bhatt is one of the most-awaited films of Tollywood.
While Ram Charan’s look as a police officer based on Alluri Sitaramaraju and Jr NTR’s as a tribal man based on Komaram Bheem went viral, the filmmakers have now revealed Alia Bhatt’s look as Sita in the film, on the occasion of her birthday. She plays Ramaraju’s better half in the film, someone who waits for him to return home after the adventure he has embarked on with Bheem.
In the first-look, Alia looks gorgeous in a green saree.
Sharing that Alia’s first-look will be released today, the filmmakers wrote on their social media, “Sita’s wait for Ramaraju might be long. But your wait to meet her is almost over! Unveiling @Aliaa08 as #Sita tomorrow at 11 AM. #RRRMovie #RRR @ssrajamouli @tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan @ajaydevgn @oliviamorris891 @DVVMovies.” (sic) And releasing the first-look SS Rajamouli wrote, “Strong-willed and resolvent SITA's wait for Ramaraju will be legendary! Presenting @aliaa08 as #Sita to you all :) @tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan #RRR #RRRMovie.” (sic)
RRR will mark Alia Bhatt’s debut in Tollywood and other South-Indian languages. The film is also Jr NTR’s debut up north, while Ram Charan had already made his debut with Zanjeer. The film that has been in the works for a while now will also see Olivia Morris, Alison Doody, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani and others in key roles.
SS Rajamouli was inspired by Motorcycle Diaries to write a fictional tale which sees Ramaraju and Bheem go on a road-trip together to Delhi. It remains to be seen what circumstances cause them to leave home and what the film’s subject will be all about because previously, the official handle of RRR had denied that the film is a patriotic one. Talking about the film during the launch, the trio had stated, ““With this film the world will know about Telugu heroes, not actors, but the true heroes who once lived and fought for us.”
When it comes to the story of the film, it reads, “A fictitious story based on two legendary freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. Set in the 1920s, the movie unveils both of them away from home (in Delhi) before they started fighting for the country. It is a pan-Indian film painted on a large canvas.” SS Rajamouli had also said, “It is a completely fictitious tale about two real heroes. I don’t like to do anything small, which is why the film will be mounted on a large scale. It took a lot of research before beginning the shoot this film, which is why it took time.” Just like Baahubali, #RRR will have extensive VFX work, he said, “The film will have extensive VFX in it, which is why we have dedicated 6 months to it after the shoot of the film.”
Shooting for RRR is still in progress and the film is slated for release on October 13.
