You have been coming to Hyderabad often for your shoots... Yes, Ive been to Hyderabad a couple of times, especially for the shooting of my films and as an actor, I can tell you that its a great place to be at. Also, the city has the best film studios in country, which makes it all the more special. What I like the most about Hyderabad is that it is developing very fast and also has some impressive infrastructure.
Im amazed at the development at the Tech City in the last few years. And of course, I have to mention the awesome Hyderabadi food!
You tasted success in 1992 with Khiladi and twenty years down the line, you have done seven films in the Khiladi series. How has the journey been? To be frank, the journey has been incredible and of course, so successful Khiladi has been one of the biggest franchises so far. Also, I have been carrying the khiladi tag since then. I hope this title brings me luck for my next release too.
You seem to be on a career high right now, with some hits to your credit and some interesting movies in your kitty... See, I dont take success that seriously, because you never know what will happen the very next Friday, when your movie releases. Also, your films fate can never be taken for granted. There is always that one question Will people accept it or not?. But to be honest, every year has been great for me and it will continue to be so till the end... till I am in the industry.
Do you think its your time now in the industry as you are in a superstar league? It is not about being a superstar. At least, I dont think that way. If people think Im a superstar, Im very happy. But, I guess the word super is a very Hyderabadi thing, people use this word a lot here! So I guess I should thanks Hyderabadis for this tag (laughs). Moreover, you never know when the super will go away one day and you will just be left with the star.... or even worse, the star tag will go away and all Ill be then is super. (laughs)
Not too long ago, you experienced that phase when none of your films were working. Do you blame that on bad choices or just bad luck? Nobody is to be blamed. But if I had to think about it, it has never been about a bad choice of films for me. I have done many good films with such amazing actors and directors in the past. Its just about the timing. Something was not on my side at that point in time, but all that doesnt matter now because things are really working for me right now.
But, dont you think success has come to you a little too late? I have been in this industry for the last 24 years and I have always had phases where I was successful and some where I was not. These things dont bother me anymore. Everyone has his ups and downs and Ive had mine. What I feel is that you should never take these things too seriously. I just work hard and the good days surely come back.
