Akhanda 2’: Nandamuri Balakrishna calls sequel a ‘creation that talks about Hindu dharma and culture' and ‘opportunity for this generation to learn’

Tollywood superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna is working on his upcoming 2021 sequel, 'Akhanda 2'. The veteran star has been promoting his film ahead of its release tomorrow. During the event, the veteran actor shared that the film will be a meaningful lesson on Sanatana Dharma for today's youth.

Film aims to reinforce cultural values and traditions

Speaking at a grand event in Chennai on Wednesday, the actor said the film looks to show the traditional values, cultural roots and the power of dharma will speak to the current generation, as per an India Today report.


Balakrishna shared that the film should not be viewed as a regular sequel to the 2021 blockbuster. "This is not a sequel, this is a creation that talks about Hindu dharma and culture. A victory for our race and culture. This film is an opportunity for this generation to learn about our traditions and Sanatana Dharma. We have shown the power of Sanatana Dharma in this film. We must fight for dharma," he said.

Recalls the uncertainty surrounding the first instalment

Balakrishna also spoke about the challenges during the release of the first part, which hit theatres amid the pandemic. "When Akhanda part one released, we thought, 'Will anyone come to watch this film?' But we made it with the belief that we must give such films to the fans. It became a super hit. We got courage after seeing fans watching such films," he said.

Fourth collaboration with Boyapati Srinu

Calling 'Akhanda 2' his fourth consecutive film with director Boyapati Srinu, Balakrishna praised the filmmaker, saying he trusts him so much that story discussions have become minimal. "All of them are super hits. I don't even discuss the story much with him," he quipped.

The actor revealed that the film was completed in just 130 days and thanked the cast and crew for their support.

The movie is set to release on December 5th.
