A Popular OTT platform will release a docu-series on Sandalwood Smuggler Veerappan

A noted OTT platform is gearing up to release a docu-series on the notorious Tamil Sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, who shook entire southern India with his ghastly acts. The series will showcase his crimes, such as a list of people he killed, which is said to be around 184 members, and poaching over 200 elephants.

The Tollywood director has made a similar content film on the late smuggler titled ‘Operation Cocoon’, which was conceived to eliminate Veerappan from Karnataka forests.

The movie received good acclaim for its performances by Shiva Rajkumar and is also said to have performed well at the box office.

Now the digital platform that has been highlighting real-life crimes (Predator: Murder in a Courtroom, House of Burari Deaths, and The Butcher of Delhi) for some time is planning to include the dreadful bandit's story in its collection.

The latest version of the Veerappan crime story will be titled The Hunt for Veerappan’. The series will also cover the rise and fall of Veerappan’s life as a bandit, whose bloody reign sparked a 20-year-long manhunt in South India.

The OTT documentary series will reportedly start streaming on August 4. More details about the cast and crew will be announced soon.
