20 years for ‘Premante Idera’: How it became a blockbuster family entertainer

On October 30, 1998, ‘Premante Idera’ chomped through movie screens around the world, giving filmgoers a fun-filled ride that would soon become a super hit romantic family entertainer. Thus, the winter blockbuster was born. Victory Venkatesh and Preity Zinta starred in this hit film filled with music, romance, and family emotions and dialogues that will live on forever. The film really touched the hearts of the fans and their love resulted in the film’s blockbuster success.

So, to celebrate 20 years of ‘Premante Idera’, we take a look at things that will make you feel amaze how it became a blockbuster hit.

2/6

It was decent enough and they have had enough with their role

It is a decent set-up, with the lead artists having enough with their roles, and the whole thing was directed well enough by Jayanth C Paranjee (who would go on to bigger and better things like ‘Lakshmi Narasimha’, ‘Ravoyi Chandamama’ and ‘Shankar Dada MBBS’), and critics were generally kind, giving it rave reviews on the film. With a huge cast of Satyanarayana, Srihari, Brahmanandam, Ali, Chandra Mohan, Ranganath, Giri Babu, Prasad Babu, Narra Venkateswara Rao, Raghunatha Reddy, Maharshi Raghava, Sivaji Raja, Rama Prabha, Sana and Bangalore Padma there is a lot to love about ‘Premante Idera’.

3/6

Preity Zinta's Tollywood debut

The film launched the lovely Preity Zinta into superstardom with its success. The romantic flick is still a fan favourite, with young boys still dreaming of their own Preity Zinta’s singing “Vayasa Chusuko” while waiting for them. The actress has won much appreciation for the portrayal of Shailu who deeply falls in love with a guy from the city and some people were excited and, didn’t believe that she was not a Telugu beauty. The romantic drama offered her a lot of scope for acting and she managed to leave her mark in Tollywood with her cute and bubbly smile and, endearing debut appearance.

4/6

The lead pair’s chemistry

This hilarious romantic comedy starring Venkatesh and Preity Zinta will have you rolling on the floor laughing at its hilarious jokes, sizzling chemistry and emotional scenes. Truth be told, Venkatesh could probably have potent onscreen chemistry with anyone or anything. The way Venky brought elements all together is so fun and amazing, he always put things together so naturally. The duo were addicted to the true joy of acting. There’s no question that it was largely due to Venky and Preity’s sparkling chemistry. Many wanted to see the two acclaimed actors team up onscreen again, but for a good long while, it just didn’t seem like it was ever going to happen.

5/6

Debut of Ramana Gogula

Ramana Gogula marked his debut with this film. As the title suggests, he conveyed musically through portraying the journey of a couple who struggle to achieve in their love. The music for the romantic entertainer has not only been directed by Ramana Gogula, but some tracks have been sung by the singer. The lyrics, which were penned by Chandrabose and Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry touched us deeply. The song ‘’Nalo Unna Prema’’ was emotionally and romantically beautiful and, is shot aesthetically.

6/6

Srihari as villain

A worth opponent is must to elevate the protagonist’s heroism. It shouldn’t be a surprise that late Srihari is the only actor to make it big as the villain in the film. He did bad deeds with such gusto and he could do whatever he liked with it. The real star’s character with utmost authority, intimidating whenever he comes to the scene. He might be performed it better than written in the script. Arguably, he was one of the most worthy villains in the entire Tollywood.
