Lyricist Kulasekhar arrested in a theft case
Popular Tollywood lyricist and writer Kulasekhar, was arrested for stealing a priest’s bag at a Goddess Durga temple near RBI Quarters, Ameerpet on Sunday night. The Vizag-born lyricist who’d worked for over 100 films in Tollywood including hits like Jayam, Indra and Santosham, was arrested by cops while he was roaming around suspiciously at another temple near Srinagar Colony.
The police had adequate CCTV evidence of the theft at the time of arrest and have reportedly seized mobiles, bags, ATM cards and locks amounting to `1 lakh from the 47-year-old lyricist. This is not the first time when Kulasekhar was caught during a robbery. In 2016, he had spent six months in jail for another theft case after admitting to stealing a ‘satagopam’ from a Kakinada-based temple. The lyricist, who faced flak from priests after one of his songs “hurt their sentiments”, reportedly resorted to these acts as a form of revenge.
