I still can’t believe people are appreciating my role in Palasa 1978: Thiruveer

Thiruveer, the actor who plays

Ranga Rao

in the recently released

Palasa 1978

, is being praised for his role in the film. The actor who recently acquired places in the audience’s hearts for his role of

Lalan Singh

in

George Reddy

and Veeraprathap in

Mallesham

spoke to Hyderabad Times about the film’s success and the appreciation he has been getting for the role:

How are you feeling, now that your role has been garnering good response?

The first and best compliment I received for

Palasa

was when I was walking out of Devi theatre on the day of release. A person who watched the film noticed me and hugged me in happiness. He told me I should join politics because I have a lot of passion. He also asked me to fight because we really need such a struggle in real life. That moment, I felt that my character truly stuck with him even after the film was done. That made me really happy. The way I got goosebumps while listening to the script, I believe the audience has too. I am still unable to believe though that people are appreciating my role. No film can escape negative reviews but I’ve never seen anyone call the film unwatchable till now, which means we have done something right.

In the film, the brothers Ranga Rao and

Mohan Rao

are seen as the ones who are all brain and brawn respectively. What’s your take on that?

If we observe, amongst the two brothers, the intelligent one is the more vigorous one. But yes, two brothers who are all brain and brawn are fighting for their community in the film. During shoot, I observed how my character was the ones who was always questioning the oppressor and the character of my brother is submissive. Again, I believe it depends on the individual perception while watching the film, as to what they take from it.

It seems like you’re really selective about your roles…

I am not selective to be honest, I’ve just been lucky to have received such good roles so far. I will take any kind of role as long as it’s fleshed out well and the film has a good story. Be it any genre, I feel I can act. In my next, I’m playing a government employee. It’s a webs-series for Aha app. Once that releases, I’m sure people will love the kind of content it holds. After that, I’m playing the lead in a thriller.
