I cut down on food and water to get my look right for Evaru: Naveen

continues to rake in the moolah at the box-office, actor Naveen Chandra, who is shooting for his next in Tamil Nadu, says he’s on cloud nine for the response his character Ashok has gotten since the film’s release. “The moment Ramji told me about this role, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to prove myself as an actor. I’ve been waiting for good films and roles to come my way and when I heard the script of Evaru, I knew that this was what I’ve been searching for,” Naveen shares.

The actor, says the compliments he has received for his performance has come as a pleasant surprise. “It’s been crazy… people have been making memes about me on the Internet! I’ve
received many congratulatory messages from movie buffs on social media, and even my colleagues from the film industry have personally congratulated me. It’s overwhelming,” he gushes.

Evaru features Adivi Sesh and Regina Cassandra in lead roles, and Regina described Naveen’s character as “absolute fire on-screen and nothing like he is in real-life.” Agreeing, Naveen says it was a challenge to pull off a character that’s nothing like him in real life. “Venkat Ramji and Regina both helped me live my character and go through the variations that the role demands. I had to look buff and like a depressed alcoholic at the same time. We shot for five days, so to pull of both looks in such a short span of time was a real challenge. I even cut down on water and food to achieve the look,” he says.

The actor adds that the biggest boost he received was the way Adivi Sesh reacted to his performance. “Sesh and I don’t have any screen-time together in the film, but while going through the footage of my scenes, he texted me and thanked me for doing the film. Coming from him, it felt really good and helped me gain confidence to pull off the character,” says Naveen, rounding off.
