One of the most beautiful actresses to ever appear on the Indian silver screen, Aishwarya Rai is celebrating her 47th birthday on Sunday and since morning itself, social media has been flooded with wishes from fans, friends and several members from the Bollywood film fraternity. Starting off her showbiz tenure as a model, the Mangalore-born diva roused to fame by bagging the Miss World pageant in 1994 and got introduced to the celluloid by Mani Ratnam with the Tamil film ‘Iruvar’.

During an interview with an entertainment channel, director Jayanth C Paranjee revealed that Aishwarya Rai was the initial choice to play the female lead in the Venkatesh starrer and she was very much impressed with the storyline and the characterisation. However, as both her films bombed at the box-office, the makers hesitated to cast Rai as Shailu and opted for Preity Zinta. Meanwhile, Jayanth said that he is still good friends with the ‘Robo’ actress.

In an illustrious career spanning for over two decades, Aishwarya Rai stamped her authority in Bollywood as a versatile actress with gorgeous looks and a mesmerising screen presence. She also essayed remarkable roles in quite a few Hollywood films which include ‘Bride And Prejudice’ and ‘Provoked’.
