The Telugu supernatural thriller ‘Shambhala’ was released on Christmas. Directed by
Ugandhar Muni, the film stars
Aadi Saikumar in the lead role. With a packed release window, the movie started its box office run on a decent note.
According to trade analyst Sacnilk, early updates suggest the film collected Rs 1.50 crore on the opening day.
Theatrical occupancy
Speaking of how full the theatres were yesterday, it recorded an overall 58.88% Telugu occupancy. In the morning, it saw decent numbers as it recorded 41.12% in the morning. Later, it increased to 61.93% during the afternoon shows and then saw a dip at 64.94% in the evening shows. Lastly, during the night shows, it recorded 67.52%.
Plot of ‘Shambhala’
The movie is about Vikram, seen in the role of a geoscientist. He does not believe in God. He is an atheist. One day, a meteor falls from the sky into a small village. After the meteor comes, the peace of the village seems to go away as strange things begin. Some villagers behave in a very weird way. They start hurting themselves. And many even kill themselves in very violent ways. Everyone becomes scared.
The villagers think something evil has come. They are full of superstitions. They believe ghosts and magic are the reason. But Vikram does not believe any of that. He only believes in science. So he comes to the village to study the meteor. He wants to find the truth.
He faces many problems because people in the village think he is against their beliefs. They do not trust him. They think he is challenging God. So they become angry at him.
Still, Vikram tries to help. He wants to stop the strange things happening to the villagers. The story shows how Vikram finds the real reason. And how he fights both science problems and village fear.
