Prabhas’s ‘Baahubali- The Epic’ beats Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Ghilli’ to become the third biggest re-release film in India

When it comes to SS Rajamouli. Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s Baahubali series, there seems to be no record big enough to break. And the day of its release Baahubali- The Epic which is a re-cut version of both Baahubali films put together has been rising up the chart and making new benchmarks for re-release films. On its first day the film became the 10th big re-release film in India beating James Cameron’s Avatar and now on the 5th day it has become the third biggest beating Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli.

Baahubali- The Epic earned Rs 1.15 crore from its premiere shows, with its first day collection coming to Rs 9.65 crore. On day 2 the film collected Rs 7.25 crore and on day 3 the collection reached Rs 6.3 crore. But on Monday the film witnessed a massive drop to collect just Rs 1.75 crore and on Tuesday the collection once again stayed steady as it earned Rs 1.5 crore taking the overall collection to Rs 27.60 crore. And with that the film has gone past Ghilli’s re-release collection to become the 3rd biggest re-release film in India.




Ghilli, headlined by Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha is considered to be a landmark film for Vjiay as it stayed in theaters for more than 200 days, it was made on a budget of Rs 8 crore and went on to mint over Rs 50 crore from its original release. On its re-release in 2024- twenty years after its original release the film had added Rs 26.5 crore to its tally.

Bahubali- The Epic minted USD 5.07 million ( Rs 45 crore) across the globe from its opening weekend- making it the highest grossing re-release film from India.But things in India are a bit different, it still has to jump two spots to claim the numero uno position, on second spot is Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad with Rs 30.48 crore and top spot is held by Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam which collected Rs 33.18 crore .

The film also features Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar in leading roles.
