Geetha Govindam box office collections day 1: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer rakes in Rs 16.1 Cr worldwide

Parasuram directorial ‘Geetha Govindam’, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles opened to packed screens on August 15.

The film that received stupendous response from critics and audience alike has raked in Rs 16.1 Cr worldwide on its opening day. “#GeethaGovindam emerges biggest day 1 grosser in mid range films with 16cr+ WW gross on Day 1. @TheDeverakonda 's highest too. He is proving to be a bankble new gen star,” (sic) wrote trade analyst Ramesh Bala on his social media. Talking about its business in Chennai and US he wrote, “@TheDeverakonda - @iamRashmika 's #GeethaGovindham takes a Grand Opening all over the World including #Chennai. In #USA, the gross has crossed $500K.” (sic)

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh too took to social media to talk about the film’s business in USA and Australia and wrote, “A midweek release, yet Telugu film #GeethaGovindam takes international markets by storm. USA: Tue $ 395,522 [₹ 2.78 cr], An EXCELLENT START, without doubt. Australia: Wed A$ 56,257 [₹ 28.68 lakhs], A working day, yet the start is SUPER.” (sic)

The theatricals of ‘Geetha Govindam’ were sold for Rs 15 Cr. The film has officially had the biggest worldwide opening for a medium budget movie.

‘Geetha Govindam’ charts the journey of Vijay Govind, a goody two shoes who believes in family values and tradition. He falls in love with Geetha, a techie he meets on a bus. However, when he takes his drunk friend’s advice and messes things up with her, she begins to hate him. How he proves to her that he’s not who she thinks he is forms the crux of the story. The film’s music composed by Gopi Sunder was a hit before the film’s release too. Seeing as how August 15 was a holiday, it remains to be seen how the film will fare in the coming days.
