This Friday, three Hindi films hit the screens - ‘Doctor G’, ‘Kantara’ and ‘Code Name: Tiranga’ and out of the three Junglee Pictures’ Ayushmann Khurana starrer ‘Doctor G’ has emerged victorious at the box office.

‘Doctor G’, which is a medical drama, recorded 10-12 per cent of opening occupancy on Friday. Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Code Name: Tiranga’ has scored a very low opening of 0-5 per cent, while the Hindi dubbed version of Kannada movie ‘Kantara’ has also performed poorly. Helmed by Anubhuti Kashyap, ‘Doctor G’ narrates the story of the struggles of a male gynaecologist. Apart from Ayushmann, this medical campus drama also features Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah in lead roles.

Ayushmann Khurrana essays Dr Uday Chopra in the movie. Speaking about his role the actor had, “Dr Uday Gupta’s character doesn’t know that he is a chauvinist and patriarchal in his thinking. It is more dangerous when you come across a sweet, harmless-looking guy, and then you get to know the person and realise that he is a typical guy - and by that, I mean he is a chauvinist. So, it’s not a black-and-white character. Dr Uday has the potential to become a nice guy or someone who believes in gender parity. That’s his journey in the film.”
