Akhil Akkineni's latest spy thriller, Agent, seems to be struggling to find its feet at the box office. The film, which released last week, has been receiving poor reviews from both the audience and the critics. Despite its star cast and high production budget, the film's box office collection is not showing any signs of improvement. In fact, on Day 4, the film's box office collection has further plummeted.
1x1 polls

The film, directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi, was made on a budget of nearly Rs 80 crore. However, the film's collection at the domestic box office at the end of four days is only Rs 10.60 crore. This is a staggeringly low number, given the film's budget and star cast.
'Agent' clashed at the box office with 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2,' and failed to impress the audience right from Day 1. While the film registered decent numbers on its opening day, it saw a steep drop during the weekends due to negative word of mouth. On its first Monday at the box office, the film is estimated to have collected only Rs 75 lakh in theatres.
Producer Anil Sunkara took to Twitter to take the blame for the failure of 'Agent.' In his tweet, he acknowledged that they had made a mistake by starting the project without a bound script and faced innumerable issues including COVID. He also apologized to all those who put trust in them and promised to make it up for the losses with dedicated planning and hard work in their future projects.

'Agent' features Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty in lead roles, with Dino Moreo, Sakshi Vaidya, Vikramjeet Virk, Denzil Smith, Sampath Raj, Murali Sharma, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in supporting roles. Despite the star cast, the film failed to deliver on the expectations of the audience and seems to have fallen flat at the box office.
