Acting in plays gave me the opportunity to spruce up my skills. When I found out that RGV sir was looking for a fresh face for a film, I auditioned for the role and here I am.” The actress plays a young lady called Geetha who falls in love with a servant, Bhairava in the film directed by Siddhartha Thatholu. “Bhairava Geetha is a violent yet romantic love story.
It’s about a servant, Bhairava, who stands up against the system for his lady love, Geetha. A fiercely independent girl, Geetha has strong values and believes in equality and doing the right thing always, irrespective of what anyone says. The role demanded a lot more from me than just dancing around trees and I really enjoyed playing it,” says the actress who’s confident that Tollywood fans will like her performance in the film.
Irra confesses that kissing on camera was the hardest part of playing the role. “I’m a first generation actor from a conservative Jat family. For me, working a film in itself is a huge deal. On top of that, for me to kiss my co-star Dhananjay in front of hundreds of people was extremely difficult and it made me very nervous. But I must thank Dhananjay because he put me at ease and helped me calm down,” reveals the actress.
She’s quick to add that the film isn’t as bold as it is being made out to be. “I know there’s a misconception that the content of the film is very bold, but that isn’t true. In fact, the film has a strong message against slavery and that’s what will resonate with the audience,” she says, signing off.
Produced by Abhishek Nama, Bhasker Rashi under Abhishek Pictures, presented by Ram Gopal Varma, Bhairava Geetha is releasing
