Story:

Patang revolves around childhood friends Whisky and Arun, who grow up bonding over kite-flying despite coming from different social backgrounds. Their friendship faces a test when both find themselves in love with Aishwarya. What begins as a breezy tale of youthful friendship gradually turns into an emotional conflict driven by love, loyalty, and choice.


Review:

Praneeth Prattipati’s Patang sets out to explore a familiar emotional space, focusing on friendship strained by romance. The film opens on an easy-going, youthful note, and the first half plays out like a light rom-com, establishing characters and relationships without rushing the narrative. The camaraderie between Whisky and Arun feels organic, helped by the performances of debutants Pranav Kaushik and Vamssi Pujit, who slip comfortably into their roles.

Preethi Pagadala stands out as bubbly yet indecisive Aishwarya. The supporting cast, including SP Charan and Vadlamani Srinivas, lends steady support to the lead characters.

Music plays an important role in shaping the mood and initially helps move the story forward, especially in the lighter moments of the first half. However, as the film progresses, the songs begin to feel excessive, slightly diluting the emotional weight of key scenes. While the narrative intentions remain sincere, the storyline itself feels familiar and doesn’t offer much in terms of fresh perspective.

The second half is where Patang begins to lose momentum. The conflict stretches longer than needed, the pacing slows down, and the climax feels dragged, reducing its overall impact. Sharper editing and tighter writing could have helped sustain engagement and given the emotional beats more punch.

Overall, Patang is a decent, one-time watch that works best in moments. While it benefits from sincere performances and a smooth first half, a more focused screenplay and crisper editing would have made the film more effective and emotionally rewarding.
