Gautham Nanda Story : Broadly centered on the lines of Mark Twain’s The Prince and The Pauper, which has been adapted on big screen many a time, this movie underscores the value of Gautam Buddha’s teaching that greed is the root cause of all evil. Director Sampath Nandi has attempted an off-beat treatment to the story while peppering it with commercial elements.

Gautham Nanda Review : Goutham Gattamaneni (Gopichand) is the only son of Vishnu Prasad Gattamaneni (Sachin Khedekar), who features among the Top 50 billionaires in the world. The fun-loving guy, who’s being wooed by Mugdha (Catherine Tresa), decides to take an extreme step when he sets out to find who he is. Being born with a silver spoon, Goutham wants to experience all the flavours of life — happiness, hunger, troubles and triumph.

He stumbles upon Nanda Kishore (Gopichand), a good-for-nothing fellow whose aspirations to develop an app fail, forcing him to contemplate ending his life. What happens next is routine stuff. The billionaire heir and wants-to-be-a-billionaire decide to swap lives, but there is a twist in the tale.

Gopichand has graced the silver screen with his message-oriented film after a hiatus. The movie starts off on a promising note and keeps the viewers engaged until its first half. As the second half starts to unravel, the sub-plots, instead picking up pace, take things slow. But the film sure has its merits.

The first song, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, which introduces the hero, is shot on a lavish scale and the spectacular visuals of Dubai will wow you. On the other hand, the ‘basti’ environment is depicted perfectly in another song. Needless to say, Gopichand does the rich guy and poor guy with equal finesse.

The two leading ladies — Hansika and Catherine — add to the prettiness of the film; the latter sets the glamour quotient high. Vennela Kishore, Chalaki Chanti, Vaidyu Raman and Bithiri Sathi evoke a few laughs here and there.

Music by SS Thaman complements the narration and the rich visuals will make your eyes pop. The movie has all the trappings of a blockbuster, but our only grouse is the sluggish pace of narration in the second half.

Goutham Nanda is definitely worth a watch and a treat for fans of Gopichand, who will get to see two of him.
